8th,Jan 2024 Ganderbal : Campaigner, Social Reformer cum Public Speaker requested general public to avail PM Vishwakarma scheme benefits. Vishwakarma Yojana (also known as PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman) offers easy access to collateral free credit of up to Rs 3 lakh at an interest rate of 5% p.a. for 4 years.

Bhat added , that PM Vishwakarma, a Central Sector Scheme, was launched on 17th September, 2023 by the Prime Minister to provide end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople who work with their hands and tools.

The applicants can register themselves free of cost from their nearest Common Services

Centers ( CSC’s), or Khadmat Centres which are available in every Districts,Tehsil’s, Villages . Bilal Bhat requested the concerned people to take maximum participation to get benefited.

The Scheme covers artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 trades .viz. Carpenter (Suthar/Badhai), Boat Maker, Armourer, Blacksmith (Lohar), Hammer and Tool Kit Maker, Locksmith, Goldsmith (Sonar), Potter (Kumhaar), Sculptor (Moortikar, stone carver), Stone breaker, Cobbler (Charmkar)/ Shoesmith/Footwear artisan, Mason (Rajmistri), Basket/Mat/Broom Maker/Coir Weaver, Doll & Toy Maker (Traditional), Barber (Naai), Garland maker (Malakaar), Washerman (Dhobi), Tailor (Darzi) and Fishing Net Maker.

Giving details by Bilal Bhat about the objectives of the Scheme that the primary objective of the Scheme is to enhance the quality and reach of the products and services crafted by the artisans and the craftspeople ensuring their integration into both domestic and global value chains.

Bhat ,added that the eligibility of the Scheme is An artisan or craftsperson working with hands and tools and engaged in one of the above family-based traditional trades, in unorganized sector on self-employment basis, shall be eligible for registration under PM Vishwakarma. The minimum age of the beneficiary should be 18 years on the date of registration.

Bhat further informed ,that the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) is the Nodal Ministry for the Scheme. The Scheme will be jointly implemented by the MoMSME, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
