Hiranagar 28-2-2024:To commemorate the National Science Day, Feb.28, 2024 the students of Govt. Girdari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar visited the Atal Tinkering Lab Housed in Bharatiya Vidya Mandir High School, Hiranagar.
A visit to the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) was an enriching and educational experience for college students. ATLs are innovation spaces set up by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), a government initiative in India, to foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and a spirit of innovation among students.
Upon arrival, students were introduced to the concept and purpose of the Atal Tinkering Lab. The facilitator provided an overview of the AIM initiative, the role of ATLs in promoting innovation, and the resources available within the lab.
Students had the opportunity to explore various tools and equipment available in the ATL, such as 3D printers, robotics kits, electronic components, and other prototyping materials. The visit included the hands-on demonstrations and interactive sessions with some of the tools.
The visit served as inspiration for students and demonstrated the practical applications of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts.
The Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna lauded the efforts put in by the school Management and congratulated the Principal, staff and the students of the school who were sent to ISRO under the Atal Scheme.
The Principal Dr. Pragya Khanna wasaccompanied by Dr. Poonam Kamotra, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma and Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma.
Dr. Pragya Khanna urged that the studentsthe students may engage in guided mini-projects or workshops facilitated by ATL mentors. These activities could involve problem-solving challenges, basic coding exercises, or small-scale innovation projects. Overall the day exposed college students to cutting-edge technologies and innovation and also inspired them to think critically and creatively to pursue their educational and career paths.
The Atal Labs are designed to promote curiosity and creativity in the minds of students plus inculcating design mindset, computational thinking and physical computing. The visit was extremely informative for the young minds as the working models prepared by the students of school as Chandra Yaan; Toys from waste and Bunglar’s alarm etc were show cased. The students of the college were also given small assignment which was completed in due course of time.
