Srinagar, Feb 15: The administration is on its toes to ensure Srinagar city should look like a ‘bride’ ahead of the G20 Summit that is going to be held in the summer capital Srinagar.

Top foreign dignitaries are expected to participate in the summit which will be the first of its kind after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

The work is going at a break-neck on the 25 projects in Kashmir capital Srinagar. Though Srinagar this time due to ongoing developmental works gives a shabby look with the roads in dilapidated condition, especially in the heart of the city, but the government is expecting that all these projects will be completed by ending April this year.

Official sources told Brighter Kashmir that multiple agencies associated with different developmental projects are on their toes, leaving no stone unturned to turn Srinagar city into a beautiful one. “Besides, 25 developmental projects, there are some works of beautification on cards and these works will be completed within a month or two,” said an official.

He said that top officials are holding meetings day in and day out to beautify Srinagar city ahead of G20 Summit.

LG as per sources is directly monitoring the developmental works while newly appointed Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri has been directed to take developmental meetings on an alternate basis so that concerned agencies like Urban Local Bodies, Economic Reconstruction Agency, Roads and Buildings can meet the deadline of these developmental projects without cutting a sorry figure.

Given the fact that G20 Summit is a very important activity, the administration has already directed all the Heads of Departments to pull up their socks and meet the deadline without any failure. These heads have been warned of consequences in case of any failure.

“There is no room for any negligence. Every agency is ready to deliver the goods and they have been directed to work day in and day out to get all the 25 developmental projects completed ahead of the G20 Summit in summer capital Srinagar,” Divisional Commissioner Kashmir said.
