Handwara, Mar 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police said to have seized 98 logs of illicit timber from the house of a local in Hafrada village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
“On March 18, 2023, following an information regarding illicit timber lying in the house of one person named Shabir Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Mohi Din of Hafrada, a joint team of PS Vilgam and forest officials raided the said location and recovered 98 numbers of illicit timber logs,” said a police spokesman in a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS).
It said that the timber was seized and a case FIR No.21/2023 U/S 379 IPC, 26 IF Act has been registered at PS Vilgam and investigation initiated.
