Box Office: PS-2 [Hindi] is fair, Bad Boy is low on Friday

It was a low Friday at the box office for Hindi films as the combined collections of the new releases just about went past the Rs. 2 crores mark. These films were PS-2 [Hindi] and Bad Boy. While the Mani Ratnam directed epic historic drama was the second part of the magnum opus which had made huge waves, especially in Tamil, just a little over six months back, the Rajkumar Santoshi directed romcom drama marked the debut of Mithun Chakraborty’s son Namashi Chakraborty along with Amreen Qureshi.

Not that the collections were expected to scale great heights on the first day itself. Still, they were expected to be fair, especially in the case of PS-2 due to its visual treatment and the grandeur that it promised. Moreover, it was promoted well too and since there was a recall factor associated with it due to PS-1 doing reasonably fair business in the Hindi version [Rs. 24.50 crores], there were expectations of a better result. However, PS-2 [Hindi] has collected Rs. 2 crores* on Friday and hence it would all boil down to big jumps now.

As for Bad Boy, the film was delayed by almost four years as the promotions had kick-started back in 2019 itself. Then COVID happened and the film’s release was pushed ahead. As for how the industry has suffered in the last year and a half, everyone is pretty much aware of. Hence, for any film it’s a challenge in itself to get a right theatrical or OTT release today, especially when it comes to mid or small budget films. Bad Boy found itself in the same situation as well and saw a very limited release for itself, hence accumulating Rs. 0.25 crore* eventually on Friday.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
