Srinagar girl bags National Youth Excellence Award

Jammu, May 13, KNT: A Kashmiri girl was honored with National Youth Excellence Award.

A function was held at PG College for Women at Gandhi Nagar Jammu where around 16 states participated in the National Youth Exchange program.

After the event 25 awardees, great personalities were felicitated.

The awards were distributed by former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Afreen Barkat was awarded in recognition of her contribution to society. Her voluntary service and helping the needy were applauded.

Afreen Barkat who hails from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar works for different Non-Governmental Organizations. She is an active member ‘Extension Activities Committee’, Sri Pratap College. Private Secretary of Kashmir Society, member of J&K Scouts and Guides.

Besides, she is a college student pursuing a master’s in Botany from Sri Pratap College.

She presently works for NGO namely “Live for Others being helpful foundation’ where she holds the post of General Secretary.

Her domains include ‘Menstrual Hygiene, ‘Environment’, and ‘Helping Society’. [KNT]
