Due to rapid urbanization, deforestation, pollution and exploitation of natural resources the environment is deteriorating at an alarming rate. This is visible in the rising global temperature and health hazards. Therefore, awareness on environmental conservation is of utmost importance.

Panzgam Army Camp organized a tree plantation and awareness drive in villages of Kachhama, Kralpura and Panzgam. 500 students from various schools and colleges participated in the event and planted saplings in their premises. Representatives from Police, Govt Hospital Kralpora and Civil Administration also joined the awareness drive.

Under the campaign *’Selfie with Sapling’* the students happily clicked selfies to spread awareness on the subject. The theme of World Environment Day this year is ‘Solutions to Plastic Problem’. Awareness was spread on how plastic waste can be managed effectively. One such way is making *Eco bricks* out of plastic bottles and wrappers. The children actively participated in the event, made eco bricks from plastic waste in their premises and pledged to participate in more such drives, collect plastic waste and make eco bricks, cleaning their villages in the process.

All the locals and students thanked Indian Army for conducting such an event and expressed their gratitude for encouraging them for innovative ways of plastic waste management.
