Srinagar, Jan 16 : The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association have written to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha seeking facilitation repatriation of the mortal remains of a Kashmiri youth who passed away in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, the Chairman of the Association, Mushtaq Habeeb, as per GNS, said that Shakir Ahmad Wani, a resident of Mughalpora Pulwama, tragically passed away due to cardiac arrest in Saudi Arabia. Wani, the statement reads, was employed by Abdullah Albakar and Abdul Aziz Almetrek Company in Riyadh.
“The family needs assistance in bringing his mortal remains back”, reads the statement while urging the Ministry of External Affairs and the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to facilitate the repatriation.
Meanwhile, the National Spokesperson of the Association, Aadil Bhat, said that the Association has taken up the matter with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for the early repatriation of the mortal remains to bring some solace to the bereaved family.
Expressing hope, he said that they have been assured that the mortal remains will be brought back anytime in the next two days. (GNS)
