Ganderbal, Jan 20 (KNO): Ghulam Hassan Dar’s remarkable journey proves that success knows no age boundaries and dedication can turn even the simplest tasks into triumphant accomplishments.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), hailing from the village of Batwina in Ganderbal district, he embarked on a sheep farming venture in 2010 through the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), with just 25 ewes from the department. Facing the challenge of cancer early on, Ghulam Hassan Dar’s indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment propelled him forward.

Guided by his persistent work ethic, strategic farm planning, and invaluable training opportunities provided by the District Sheep Husbandry Officer Ganderbal, he emerged as a shining example of successful sheep farming in his region.

By systematically expanding his farming efforts, he not only experienced economic advancement but also nurtured anticipated returns. With foresight, he ensured the educational prosperity of his three children, having funded their studies up to the post-doctorate level solely from the proceeds of sheep farming.

Ghulam Hassan Dar’s exceptional managerial acumen is evident as he vigilantly attends to his animals’ health needs, in collaboration with the department, delivering timely vaccinations and deworming treatments under the close supervision of the veterinary Assistant Surgeon.

His stringent grading practices illustrate his dedication to maintaining the excellence of his farm, as he selectively breeds and sells animals to sustain the farm’s superiority.

Presently nurturing around 50 sheep, including ewes and rams, he garners substantial earnings of nearly 3.5-4 lakh rupees by selling 20-25 animals during occasions such as Eid-ul-Adha.

Ghulam Hassan Dar’s success story serves as a beacon of inspiration to today’s educated youth, encouraging them to embrace sheep farming as a viable livelihood option—(KNO)
