Ramban, 4th February 2024: In response to the escalating instance of Cyber Crimes, the District Police Ramban has taken a crucial step by establishing a dedicated Cyber Cell at the District Police Headquarters. This strategic initiative aims to address a spectrum of Cyber offences, including online frauds, financial crimes, Cyber thefts, extortion phishing, social media frauds and more. The inauguration of the Cyber Cell was officiated by the SSP Ramban, Ms Mohita Sharma- IPS, in presence of Shri Viqar Younis Bhat Dy. SP DAR DL Ramban and Shri Om Parkash, Dy. SP Headquarters Ramban. The Cyber cell will not only actively investigate and address reported Cyber Crime cases , but will also play a pivotal role in training the subordinate staff and Investigating Offices of the Police Stations within the District. The training will equip with them with the necessary skills to handle Cyber Crime cases effectively. Furthermore, the Cyber Cell is committed to enhancing public awareness about Cyber security by providing citizens with strategies to safeguard themselves against Cyber threats. The initiative aligns with the broader vision of he Jammu and Kashmir Police to address Cyber related complaints at the District level. Over the past two years, Ramban Police has observed significant rise in Cyber fraud Cases.
In addition to its investigative functions, the Cyber cell will actively engage with Citizens through various channels to promote cyber hygiene and alertness. The Citizens can register Complaints through the official website www. Cyber Crime gov.in. The proactive stance of the District Police Ramban, underscores the commitment to creating a safer online environment for residents. The Cyber Cell’s multifaceted approach, encompassing investigation, training and Awareness, reflects a holistic strategy to combat the evolving challenges of Cyber crime in the digital age. The public is urged to remain vigilant, avoid sharing sensitive information and promptly report any suspicious online activities to the Cyber Cell.
