Timber seized, accused arrested in Central Kashmir’s Budgam

Budgam, Feb 9, KNT: A Forest Protection Team seized a vehicle carrying illicit timber in the Beerwa Forest Range of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Official sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the team led by Forest Officer Khag intercepted a vehicle at the Dodora Poshkar area of Khag and recovered illicit timber from it.

They said one smuggler was arrested on the spot while two others managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.

Police Station Khag in this regard has registered a formal case after taking safe custody of the jungle smuggler.

Range Officer Beerwah Iftekar Qadri while confirming the arrest of a smuggler and seizure of illegally procured timber appealed to the general public not to indulge in green gold loot. [KNT]
