Ayush medicine worth lakhs dumped in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Feb 29, KNT: Ayush medicine worth lakhs has been dumped at a treatment plant in the Malshahi Bagh area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Some of the dumped medicine has expired while other quantities that have been thrown away have not expired yet.

Locals alleged that instead of providing medicine to the poor patients, the authorities prefer to set it apart and later dump it.

Under the Ayush scheme medicines are not being freely distributed but even health awareness camps are being organized at district and block levels.

“Wasting medicine in such a huge quantity amply proves that those who are at the helm of affairs have miserably failed to implement the scheme on the ground. This scheme which is aimed at providing benefits to poor patients has proved a damp squib,” said a local to the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

The locals appealed to Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal to intervene in the matter and probe it thoroughly.

“Instead of wasting medicines, this should be given to the poor patients,” locals said.

When contacted an official assured that, matter would be looked into and it would be found out why this medicine was not distributed among patients. [KNT]
