Srinagar, Feb 29 : In an exclusive award show held in Mumbai, RJ Umar Nisar was bestowed with UNICEF’s prestigious #Radio4Child Award for the year 2024. The accolade, presented by Ayushmann Khurrana, UNICEF Celebrity supporter and national brand ambassador, unfolded in the presence of distinguished representatives from UN, UNICEF, and key figures from the radio and media industry.
Hailing from Tral in Pulwama district, South Kashmir, Umar embarked on his radio journey at the tender age of 12, emerging as a fervent advocate for child rights, climate change, immunization, mental health, and youth development. This marks his second consecutive year clinching the UNICEF award, underscoring his unwavering commitment to impactful broadcasting.
Currently at the helm of the “Mashq Talks” radio podcast in Kashmir, Umar passionately addresses pivotal issues in the region. Expressing his elation, he conveyed, “I’m thrilled and proud of the accomplishments UNICEF has acknowledged. I dedicate this award firstly to my mother for her unconditional support throughout my life.” This poignant dedication emphasizes the personal significance of the award and his profound gratitude for his mother’s steadfast encouragement.
