Ganderbal, March 19:In view of ongoing month of Ramadan, a market checking team led by Naib Tehsildar Safapora, accompanied by the Food Safety Officer, SHO of P/S Safapora, and Revenue staff, conducted a surprise raid on numerous shops in Safapora today.
During the operation, several erring shopkeepers were fined for overcharging customers, while rotten vegetables, meat, and fruits were promptly disposed of on the spot. Additionally, fines were imposed on some bakery and meat shops for failing to display government rate lists, with bakers instructed to prominently display rates, dates, and expiry information on their products to avoid stern action in the future.
The primary objective of the market checking initiative was to ensure that only high-quality items are offered for sale while curbing black marketing and profiteering of essential commodities.
The local community has lauded the efforts of District Commissioner Ganderbal in taking such proactive measures and expressed their hope for the continuation of similar drives in the future.
