Mohammad Amir took to social media to announce his decision to come out of retirement.

Mohammad Amir has made himself available for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 after announcing his decision to reverse his international retirement.

Amir retired from all forms of international cricket in 2021 but has been a globetrotter in franchise T20 leagues across the world.

The 31-year-old was recently a part of the Pakistan Super League, representing the Quetta Gladiators, picking up 10 wickets in 9 matches at an economy rate of 8.41.

Amir wrote on social media, expressing his readiness to play for Pakistan again, following positive discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“I still dream to play for Pakistan!” wrote Amir.

“Life brings us to the points where at times we have to reconsider our decisions, There has been few positive discussions between myself and the PCB where they respectfully made me feel that I was needed and can still play for Pakistan after discussing with family and well wishers I declare that I am available to be considered for upcoming T20WC.

“I want to do this for my country as it comes before my personal decisions. Donning the green jersey and serving my country has always been, and will continue to be, my greatest aspirations.”

Prior to retiring from international cricket, Amir had played 50 T20Is for Pakistan, scalping 59 wickets at an economy of 7.02. He last played a T20I in August 2020 against England.

Amir’s announcement comes a day after Imad Wasim reversed his retirement to make himself available for the T20 World Cup.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 begins on 1 June in West Indies and USA. Pakistan’s campaign begins against hosts USA on 6 June before the clash against India in a much-awaited match on 9 June.
