A mid aged man strangulated his wife to death in the Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday night, one Amjid Ahmed Mughal killed his wife by strangulating her to death in the Shartpalla area of Kupwara’s Tanghdar.
The woman identified as 35-year-old Sobia Begum has been taken to the hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, Police have arrested the accused and launched an investigation under the relevant sections of law.
Crime has seen a massive rise in the Kashmir valley. The Jammu Kashmir Police annual gazette reported a 15.41 percent increase in registered crimes in 2020 compared to 2019.
Although the crime report for 2022 has not yet been released, the overall crime rate in Jammu Kashmir surged by 24.6 percent in 2021 when compared to the statistics from 2019 and the crime is visible on the ground, at least to the local population.
