GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 23: With polling day approaching on September 25, 2024, the General Observer R. Lakshmanan, Expenditure Observer Ashok Gautam and Police Observer Bipin Shankarrao Ahire today held a comprehensive review of the security arrangements in place for the upcoming elections in the district.

A joint meeting held in the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Ganderbal was attended by District Election Officer, Shyambir; SSP Ganderbal, Wasim Qadri; Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; ASP Ganderbal, Aijaz Ahmad; ROs, Dy DEO and other senior officers of various security agencies.

The review was conducted to ensure the safety, security and smooth functioning of the polling process, as well as to encourage maximum voter participation.

During the review, it was emphasized that all deployed troops will be thoroughly briefed on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for polling day. Essential contact numbers will be shared at the booth level, ensuring rapid communication and coordination across all polling stations.

Election Observers stressed the importance of each Officer fully understanding the SOPs to ensure smooth and responsible execution of duties.

Key instructions were given concerning the management of queues at polling stations, maintaining order, and ensuring proper frisking procedures, all aimed at ensuring a safe and efficient voting experience for all citizens.

Security personnel were urged to work collaboratively, with a unified focus on maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during the election.

In addition, Zonal and Sectoral Officers have been directed to remain highly vigilant throughout polling day. Their active supervision is essential to ensuring that the voting process runs smoothly and efficiently, with any potential issues being promptly addressed.

The Election Observers called upon all involved to work as a team, ensuring that the elections are conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner. Special emphasis was placed on encouraging maximum voter turnout, in line with the district administration’s commitment to fostering democratic participation.

The District Administration remains dedicated to providing a secure environment on polling day, and all necessary measures are being put in place to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process
