Srinagar, Oct 05: In anticipation of the upcoming vote counting for the General Election to the Legislative Assembly 2024 (GELA-2024), the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, has announced the suspension of classwork at the Government Degree College Boys Baramulla and Government ITI Baramulla on October 7 and 8.
The vote counting is scheduled to take place at Showkat Ali Stadium, Khawajabagh on October 8.
This suspension of academic activities is a precautionary measure to ensure the smooth conduct of the vote counting and maintain public order. “Given the logistical and security needs during this critical phase of the elections, it is necessary to keep the campuses clear,” said an official order from the Deputy Commissioner’s office as per news agency KINS.
Parking arrangements for vehicles associated with the vote counting process have also been designated, including several key locations such as the FCI Godown, DIC Complex Baramulla, and ITI Baramulla (Kralhar). Transportation will be available for ferrying counting staff and political agents to and from the stadium.
The Deputy Commissioner’s office emphasized the need for security measures. “We are coordinating closely with the police and transport departments to ensure that both security and traffic flow are effectively managed,” a senior official stated.
The Sr. Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, has been requested to oversee all necessary security arrangements for the vote counting, which will witness a significant influx of political representatives, media personnel, and counting staff.–(KINS)
