Jammu, Nov 10 : A para commando was killed and three soilders were injured in an encounter with terrorists in remote forest area of Kishtwar district on Sunday, officials said.

An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that encounter broke out in the Keshwan forest today morning following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

He said that in the ensuing encounter a para commando, identified as naib subedar Rakesh Kumar of the 2 Para (special forces), was killed and three soldiers were injured.

“The injured soldiers were evacuated and airlifted to army’s base hospital in Udhampur for advanced treatment.”

The Army said the terrorists trapped in the encounter were responsible for abducting and killing two VDG members two days ago.

In a post on X, Army’s White Knight Corps said that based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint operation was launched by security forces in general area Bhart Ridge, Kishtwar.

“This is the same group which had abducted and killed two village defence guards. Contact was established and firefight ensued,” it said—(KNO)
