Kangan: The Power Development Department initiated a campaign against illegal power connections, resulting in the confiscation of heaters and boilers in various villages of Gund Area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday.
The operation, supervised by a special team, Raided Rezan, Gagangir, Kullan, Rayil Gund and other neighboring villages, aiming to reduce illegal power consumption and provide relief from unscheduled power cuts.
A PDD official stated that the raids aimed to minimize the unauthorized power load, and a significant number of illegal appliances, such as heaters, water boilers, and heating rods, were seized.
By refraining from the illicit use of such appliances and avoiding illegal hooking, people can alleviate the impact of unscheduled power curtailment, the official emphasized.
The department aims to mitigate load shedding and power outages by targeting illegal connections and excessive power consumption, said PDD Er Bashrat Illahi Baba, he said we urge residents to adopt responsible energy consumption habits.
Bashrat said the crackdown on illegal connections will persist in the future.
