Leh, January 7, 2025: The Hon’ble Executive Councillors, Stanzin Chosphel and Ghulam Mehdi, chaired a meeting today to discuss the upcoming specialized training initiative for students under the 2028 Paralympic Mission. This initiative aims to prepare athletes with disabilities for international competitions, including the prestigious Paralympic Games. The training will be conducted by the renowned Aditya Mehta Foundation, which is committed to providing world-class coaching and resources to these athletes, enabling them to realize their full potential. Asha Shaikh, Physiotherapist and Medical Classifier, who joined online, provided a detailed briefing to the parents and participants on the assessment process. She explained the various evaluations, including eligibility criteria, IQ tests, and other necessary assessments to ensure that the athletes meet the program’s standards. The five students, two parents, and one escort selected for this initiative will be departing on January 12,2025, for the specialized training. The Hon’ble Councillors extended their best wishes to the athletes and their families as they embark on this important journey, reaffirming its commitment to supporting athletes with disabilities and ensuring they have the necessary resources to excel on the global stage. The meeting was attended by youth service and sports officer,physical education teachers and parents of the students.
