Srinagar, Feb 26 (KB): A team from the Food Safety Department, led by Assistant Commissioner Yameen Ul Nabi, has launched an investigation into a viral video featuring a contaminated tetra milk pouch here.

Talking to news agency Kashmir Bulletin, an official, privy to the matter, said that investigation team which included Food Safety Officers Khalid Bashir, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, and Hakeem Adil, conducted inspections in Karanagar and Umarabad HMT, collecting samples for analysis. “A sample of the milk pouch in question was specifically lifted for analytical purposes, and the investigation is currently ongoing,” he said.

Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Department Yameen Ul Nabi has in the meantime urged public to report food safety concerns directly to the department before posting them on social media. He emphasized that premature online exposure could alert violators, giving them time to conceal evidence before authorities can take action.

“Tetra milk pouches, such as the one under scrutiny, undergo ultra-high temperature (UHT) processing, allowing them to be stored for extended periods without refrigeration,” Yameen said, adding, “However, strict safety measures must be in place during manufacturing and distribution to prevent contamination.” (KB)
