Ganderbal:- In a proactive move to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, the Ganderbal Police organized a comprehensive drug de-addiction awareness program at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Gund
Officials said that the initiative conducted under the Community Action Program (CAP) on the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal Ragav S IPS, aimed to educate students about the severe consequences of substance abuse on individual lives and the broader community.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the school who actively engaged in discussions and shared their perspectives on the drug problem.
A speech delivery competition focusing on drug abuse, where students delivered compelling speeches and demonstrated a deep understanding of the issue.
The top four speakers were recognized and rewarded with momentum and cash prizes encouraging further engagement and awareness among their peers.
Speaking at the event, Station House Officer (SHO) Gund Lateef Ali emphasized the crucial role of school management in identifying students at risk of substance abuse and implementing effective remedial measures.
Lateef also shed light on the psychological and social dimensions of addiction, highlighting the need for a holistic approach to address the issue.
Speaking on the occasion GM Wani school principal stressed the pivotal role of parents in the social development of children. Wani stated, Parents are the first teachers and guides of their children, and they bear a significant responsibility in shaping their social behavior and protecting them from harmful influences.
Chairman of Civil Society Tehsil Gund, Irfan Raina, also addressed the students, reinforcing the importance of community involvement and collective action in the fight against drug abuse.
