Ramban, Mar 22,: Two people lost their lives in a road accident at Battery Chashma along the Srinagar-Jammu Highway after a pick-up truck veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge on Saturday.
Police sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the vehicle, a Tata Yodha (JK14H-2006), was carrying vegetables from Jammu to Srinagar when the driver lost control, leading to the fatal crash. The driver, identified as Seva Singh, and another occupant, Irshad Rashid, a resident of Ukhral, Banihal, died on the spot.
The impact of the accident left the vehicle completely damaged. Rescue teams, along with police, rushed to the scene and retrieved the bodies.
Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution while navigating the treacherous stretches of the highway, especially during adverse weather conditions. [KNT]
