Clarification on Toll Charges at Shutkadi Toll Post
Ganderbal 27 March 2025: Recent videos circulating on social media regarding collection of Toll at Toll Post have shown individuals disputing the payment of toll charges. We would like to clarify the situation to avoid any further confusion:
Exemption for Local Residents and Employees: Residents of Shutkadi, Sonamarg, Nilgrath, and Sarbal, and all the employees of other departments working at Sonamarg are not required to pay toll charges at the Shutkadi Toll Post. This policy has been consistently in place to support the local community and facilitate smooth travel for residents and employees.
Toll for Business Activities: Individuals involved in business or commercial activities near in Sonamarg are, however, required to pay toll charges. This is in line with established guidelines to ensure the maintenance and management of infrastructure in the area.
The administration urges all individuals to adhere to these guidelines and cooperate with the authorities at the toll post. Any concerns or misunderstandings can be addressed by contacting the SDA for clarification.
