Kangan, May 18: After relentless efforts spanning several hours, officials from the Forest Protection Force and the Forest Department successfully extinguished a forest fire in Compartment 16, Block Akhal, located in the Sindh Range of Kangan in central Kashmir.
The fire, which broke out early morning, posed a serious threat to the rich biodiversity of the region. Responding swiftly, teams from both the Forest Protection Force and the local forest division were deployed to the site. Their coordinated efforts, aided by local volunteers and fire suppression tools, managed to bring the flames under control before significant damage could occur.
An official from the Forest Protection Force stated, “It was a challenging operation due to the difficult terrain and dry conditions, but we are relieved to report that the fire has been completely doused.”
Forest officials also confirmed that they are assessing the damage to vegetation and wildlife, and will be increasing patrolling in vulnerable compartments of the forest range to prevent future incidents.
The swift action and successful containment underscore the commitment and vigilance of the forest protection teams in safeguarding the region’s natural heritage.
