GANDERBAL, AUGUST 30: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today chaired a meeting at the VC Room to review and finalize the arrangements for the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) celebrations and Friday Following in the district.
The DC held a comprehensive review of arrangements related to sanitation, water and power supply, security, traffic management, market regulation, and availability of essential commodities including food grains and poultry.
He emphasized the need for a special sanitation drive around shrines and congregation sites, adequate transport and traffic management, deployment of fire tenders, and repair of defunct streetlights ahead of the festivities.
The Executive Engineer KPDCL was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply at all major shrines and congregation sites, while the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti was asked to provide water tankers wherever required.
The DC also underscored the importance of putting in place foolproof security measures in and around shrines and major mosques to ensure peaceful and hassle-free observance of the occasion.
To curb profiteering and ensure availability of quality essentials, the Food Safety Department was instructed to conduct joint intensive market inspections in coordination with Revenue, Police, and Legal Metrology officials.
The ARTO was asked to ensure smooth availability of public transport on all major routes, particularly the Ganderbal–Hazratbal route, during the festive days.
Stressing the need for inter-departmental coordination, the DC directed all concerned departments to work in synergy so that devotees face no inconvenience during the auspicious occasion.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Fahim Bihaqi; DySP, SDM Kangan, ACP, ARTO, and officials from all line departments.
