Mass Fish Death at Shopian Fish Farm After Alleged Poisoning

Shopian, Sep 2 : In a suspected poisoning incident, nearly 3,500 fishes were found dead at a fish farm in Village Ganowpora, Balpora, Shopian, owned by Bilal Ahmad Lone.

The estimated loss has been pegged at around Rs 4 lakh.

According to locals as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — (KNC) unknown persons allegedly entered the farm during the night and put poison in the water, leading to the sudden death of the fishes.

Bilal Ahmad Lone said that he discovered the massive loss early in the morning and immediately informed local authorities.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident to identify and apprehend the culprits.—(KNC)
