Kupwara, 08 Sep : In a landmark initiative aimed at fostering unity, celebrating youth talent and promoting peace through sports, the Kilo North Kashmir Premier League 2025 kicked off today in the remote and picturesque Lolab Valley. Organized by the Indian Army, this is the first inter-district cricket tournament ever organized in the region. The championship has drawn cricketing talent from all over Kashmir to Lolab and along with them multitude of spectators.

In a stunning Opening Ceremony held under overcast conditions, Commander, 8 Sect RR, CO 28 RR (JAKRIF) and Shri Fayaz Ahmad Tantray, ZPEO Sogam unveiled the stunning trophies and declared the tournament were present. The ceremony was bejeweled by a beautiful Kashmiri Rouf dance by the students of Hamid Chara AGS, Chandigam.

Commander 8 Sector RR interacted with both teams, Friends XI Lolab & Wallur Sports Hajin, and wished them the best of luck for the tournament.

With 98 teams having participated in the qualifying rounds held at seven different
locations across North Kashmir, the competition between the top eight teams from the region promises high-voltage matches to be played in the serene settings of Chandigam in Lolab, Kupwara.

This tournament is aimed at being more than just cricket; it’s a platform for the youth of
Kashmir to shine, for communities to connect and for the spirit of peace and sportsmanship to flourish.

The tournament is being held in collaboration with local youth groups and sports bodies. Special emphasis has been placed on participation by local youth in its conduct, inclusivity and grassroots talent scouting, with scouts from BCCI expected to attend.

This historic tournament underscores the transformative power of sports in building a
brighter, united future for Kashmir’s youth and likely to go a long way establishing a sporting tradition in the region that will develop, nurture and project the sporting power of Kashmir for
the nation and the world to see.
