Srinagar, Sept 28, KNT: Locals in Hyderpora and its adjoining areas, particularly Mushtaq Colony and Galwanpora, have been grappling with an acute shortage of LPG cylinders for the past month, with many households forced to manage without cooking gas despite repeated online bookings.
Locals alleged that the situation has worsened under the Chinar Gas Agency, which caters to the area, as delivery staff remain unresponsive and fail to ensure timely supplies. “It has been more than a month since we booked our cylinders. Despite repeated calls, there has been no delivery. The delivery boys switch off their phones, leaving us helpless,” a local resident from Hyderpora told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.
The crisis has disrupted normal life, forcing many families to depend on neighbors or turn to alternative means of cooking. Locals expressed concern that the shortage is hitting households hard, particularly those with young children and elderly family members.
They accused the gas agency of gross negligence and called upon the administration to intervene immediately. “It is shocking that in the 21st century, when online booking systems exist, consumers are left without gas for weeks. Where is the accountability?” another aggrieved consumer asked.
The affected families appealed to the Divisional Administration Kashmir and the Oil Marketing Companies to take stern action against erring agencies and ensure uninterrupted LPG supply. [KNT]
