In its continuous efforts to strengthen Police–Public relations and to enhance awareness among the youth, Ganderbal Police today organized a Student Outreach Programme at Police Station Ganderbal.
During the event, Students of Vijay Memorial School Ganderbal visited the police station, where they were warmly welcomed by the officers and briefed about the functioning of the police, various citizen-centric initiatives, and the role of police in maintaining law and order.
On the occasion, the students were also appraised about the newly introduced criminal laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)—which have replaced the earlier IPC, CrPC, and Indian Evidence Act. The officers elaborated on the key provisions of these laws, particularly those aimed at ensuring speedier justice and protection of citizens’ rights.
The students were further made aware of day-to-day policing activities, including the role of beat officers, community policing, traffic management, and cyber safety measures. An interactive session followed where students asked questions and shared their views about policing and community safety.
The initiative was aimed at bridging the gap between police and youth by fostering mutual trust, cooperation, and understanding.
Ganderbal Police reaffirmed its commitment to continue such programmes to educate and empower the younger generation to become responsible citizens and active partners in maintaining peace and harmony in society.
