DDC Ganderbal chairs public outreach programme at Tehsil Wakura

Takes first-hand appraisal of public issues, assures timely resolution of genuine concerns

GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 09: In order to bring governance at the doorsteps of people, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore on Thursday presided over a public outreach programme cum grievance redressal camp at Administrative Complex of Tehsil Wakura of the district.

District Development Council Member, M Ashraf Ganai; Additional District Development Commissioner, Manzoor Ahmad; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Lead District Manager, and other district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion besides a large gathering of local citizens, students and social activists.

During the camp, participants put forth a range of developmental issues and demands including drinking water supply, macadamization of roads and inner links, availability of bus service during late hours, desilting and widening of Dab canal, infrastructure upgradation of school buildings, shortage of staff in several schools, completion of PHC Wakoora new building and construction of a children park for the area.

DDC patiently listened to the concerns of people, took feedback from officers of line departments, and issued on-spot directions for immediate redressal of genuine issues. He further assured of taking up other issues with concerned authorities for their redressal.

Speaking on the occasion, DC said that this public outreach programme is part of participatory governance initiative, aimed at bridging the gap between administration and public through direct interaction. He said district administration is committed for transparent and citizen friendly governance.

DDC handed-over sanction letters among various beneficiaries under various schemes of Agriculture development, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Social Welfare, Mission Yuva, etc. He also distributed sports kits among students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society.

Later, DDC visited Primary Health Centre Wakura and took first-hand stock of health-care facilities extended to patients and also reviewed availability of essential medicines. He also visited the new PHC building and directed concerned for timely completion of finishing works for its timely dedication to the public to enhance health facilities.

He also visited Dab Kanal Wakura to take spot assessment of encroachment, and directed concerned Tehsildar and Irrigation Department to immediately get the encroachment removed and restore the canal to its original position.
