Ganderbal, 13th October 2025: In a major success against crime and to maintain peace and order in the district, Ganderbal Police has arrested a notorious absconder, Showkat Ahmad Bhat S/O Abdul Ahad Bhat R/O Urpash Ganderbal, who was wanted in 13 FIR’s;
(FIR No. 08/2006 U/S 457, 380 RPC of P/S Ganderbal, FIR No. 31/2007 U/S 379/6 Forest Act of P/S Ganderbal, FIR No. 02/2011 U/S 329, 34 RPC of P/S Khanyar, FIR No. 193/2013 U/S 379/6 Forest Act of P/S Ganderbal, FIR No. 21/2015 U/S 379 RPC of P/S Kangan, FIR No. 61/2015 U/S 379 RPC of P/S Kargil, FIR No. 143/2015 U/S 379 RPC of P/S Sadar Srinagar, FIR No. 05/2017 U/S 379 RPC of P/S Kheerbhawani, FIR No. 174/2020 U/S 7/25 I.A.Act of P/S Ganderbal, FIR No. 37/2015 U/S 377 RPC of P/S Ganderbal, FIR No. 05/2017 U/S 378 RPC Pantha Chowk Srinagar, FIR No. 68/2024 U/S 303 (2) BNS of P/S Kangan & FIR No. 130/2024 U/S 303 (2) BNS of P/S Bari Brahmana Jammu) related to proscribed arms and ammunition, theft, criminal assault, unnatural offence, criminal trespass, vehicle lifting and other organised criminal activities.
The accused had been evading arrest for the past *04 years,* and his apprehension marks a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb habitual and dangerous offenders operating in the area.
