DC Ganderbal chairs District Steering Committee meeting for Green India Mission

GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 03: A meeting of District Steering Committee for Green India Mission (GIM) was today held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore here.

The mission themed ‘Climate Resilience through Forest Landscape Restoration’ is aimed to increase forest/ tree cover in the division, improving ecosystem services and increasing the forest based livelihood income of households living in and around the forests.

During the meeting, DFO Ganderbal gave a detailed presentation regarding the progress of works under Annual Plan of Operation (APO) under Green India Mission for the year 2024-2025.

After thorough deliberations, the committee recommended to forward the proposal (APO) under Green India Mission to be executed in Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal 2025-26 to the next steering committee.

During the year 2024-25, the Annual Plan of Operation was approved for an amount of Rs. 36.87 Lacs for Village Forest Committee – Rezan, Kullan and Sonamarg where under 69 Hectares of degraded forest area was tackled with plantation of 40 thousand numbers of plants including 89 thousand numbers of patch sowing and grass slips.
