Kupwara, 3 December 2025 – The Save Youth Save Future Foundation organized a special programme titled “Noor-e-Wujood” at Town Hall, Kupwara, to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Led by the Foundation’s Chairman, Wajahat Farooq Bhat, the event was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmed Bhat; Anika Nazir, President of the Women’s Wing; and several other distinguished guests.The initiative aimed to pay tribute to individuals who sustained permanent disabilities due to acts of terrorism and to provide them with a platform to share their stories, challenges, and aspirations.
The programme opened with a welcome address by Anika Nazir, who underscored the urgent need for sustained institutional and community support for women who have been disabled as a result of terrorism.Participants shared their personal journeys, reflecting on how terrorism had altered their lives, livelihoods, and families. Their testimonies offered valuable insights into the ongoing challenges surrounding healthcare, rehabilitation, and livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Addressing the gathering, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gulzar Ahmed Bhat commended the Foundation’s efforts and praised the resilience of those who continue to face life with strength and dignity despite permanent disabilities. He emphasized the value of community solidarity, timely medical care, and institutional backing in fostering inclusive progress.A medical camp organized by the District Administration provided crucial health services to attendees, reaffirming the commitment to assist vulnerable sections of society.
In his address, Chairman Wajahat Farooq Bhat reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to empowering victims of terrorism and called for joint action by social and institutional stakeholders to ensure their dignity and well-being. He extended gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, for his leadership, guidance, and consistent support for affected families across the Union Territory.
The Foundation also conveyed heartfelt thanks to the District Administration Kupwara and all collaborating partners for their contribution to the successful conduct of “Noor-e-Wujood.”
