RAMBAN, DECEMBER 29: As part of its continued commitment to community outreach and youth empowerment, 12 Rashtriya Rifles (Grenadiers) initiated a Computer Cadre program under Operation Sadbhavana at ACSA Institute-Banihal. The programme witnessed participation of 40 students, including boys and girls from the local area.
The event was graced by the presence of the Zonal Education Officer and Zonal Education Planning Officer as Chief Guests, adding significance to the occasion. Representatives of 12 Rashtriya Rifles, faculty members of ACSA Institute and students were also present.
In his address, the Officer from 12 Rashtriya Rifles highlighted the growing importance of computer education in the digital era, emphasizing the importance of learning basic computer skills, digital awareness and responsible use of technology to enhance educational and employment opportunities. Students were encouraged to remain disciplined and dedicated throughout the training.
Addressing the gathering, the ZEO appreciated the initiative of 12 Rashtriya Rifles in promoting digital literacy and urged students to make optimum use of the opportunity for their academic and professional growth. Officials of ACSA Institute expressed gratitude to the Indian Army and assured full cooperation for successful conduct of the cadre.
Students expressed enthusiasm and thanked the Indian Army for providing a valuable platform to acquire essential computer skills. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and empower youth with practical knowledge.

Kathua Admin Cup: PHE XI outplays Agri XI by 3 wickets in fifth match
KATHUA, DECEMBER 29: The fifth match of the ongoing Kathua Admin Cup Cricket Tournament held today between Agri XI and PHE XI witnessed an engaging contest with PHE XI securing a three-wicket victory.
Agri XI won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 86 runs, while Mukesh top-scored with 17 runs off 13 balls, while Amit Gupta contributed 16 runs off 19 balls, including three boundaries. Kailash added 12 runs off 14 balls with one four.
PHE XI bowlers maintained tight lines and length throughout the innings. Sumesh Hangloo led the attack with an impressive spell of 4 wickets for 24 runs in 3 overs. He was well supported by Vinod Kumar, who claimed 2 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs, Rohit Kumar with 2 wickets for 15 runs in 3 overs and Kulbhushan Singh, who returned figures of 2 wickets for 22 runs in 2.1 overs.
Chasing the target, PHE XI completed the chase in 17 overs. Randeep anchored the innings with 23 runs off 22 balls, hitting four boundaries. Simran scored 15 runs off 15 balls, including one four and one six, while Vijay added 13 runs off 27 balls with two boundaries.
From the Agri XI bowling side, Arun Dev picked up 2 wickets for 14 runs in 2.5 overs, while Pankaj Andotra claimed 2 wickets for 21 runs in 3 overs. Mukesh, Dheeraj and Kailash picked up one wicket each.
Man of the Match was awarded to Sumesh Hangloo for his outstanding all-round performance. He made a decisive impact with the ball by taking 4 wickets for 24 runs in 3 overs and later contributed with the bat, scoring a quick 11 runs off 7 balls including a four and a six, to guide PHE XI to victory.
