Leh, January 15, 2026: A combined delegation of the All Kargil Transport Association (AKTA) and the All Leh Transport Association (ALTA), led by their presidents, Adv. Riyaz Ahmed and Dorjey Angchok, with their executive members, today called on the Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, Shri Ashish Kundra, at the UT Secretariat in Leh.
During the meeting, the delegation welcomed the Chief Secretary and apprised him of various issues and concerns being faced by transporters across Ladakh.
The members raised key matters related to the implementation of Vehicle Location Tracking Devices (VLTD), difficulties being faced with authorised vendors, and the need to ensure smooth and transparent procedures in this regard.
The delegation also highlighted problems related to the fitness certification of vehicles, particularly in remote areas where access to testing facilities remains limited.
They further brought to the notice of the Chief Secretary the challenges faced by transport operators in obtaining and renewing inter-state permits through the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
The Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that their genuine issues would be examined, directing the concerned departments to take appropriate steps for their resolution.
