Srinagar, 14 Jan 2026 : The Indian Army marked the 10th Defence Forces Veterans’ Day with series of events and welfare initiatives across multiple locations in the Kashmir Valley. Spearheaded by the Chinar Corps and executed by formations including Dagger Division, Vajr Division, Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo) and the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) Regimental Centre. These events were primarily aimed at felicitating the efforts of Veterans, Veer Matas, Veer Naris and the families towards Nation-Building and address their concerns with utmost care and respect.
Ex-servicemen rallies were held at Srinagar, Drugmulla, Uri, Chak Kigam, Manasbal, Langate and Haiderbeg wherein Senior Military Officials felicitated and interacted with Veterans, Veer Matas and Veer Naris. These events drew enthusiastic participation of approx 1,000 Ex-servicemen, 50 Veer Matas/ Veer Naris and their families. These initiatives underscored Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of its veterans, supported by the extensive efforts of formations and the JAKLI Regimental Centre.
The events were structured to assist veterans in resolving issues related to pension, documentation, medical support and spreading awareness about government welfare schemes thereby providing a vital platform for veterans and their families to engage directly with military and civil officials, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of grievances.
These events exemplify the Nation’s deep gratitude and respect for its Ex-servicemen, whose sacrifices have fortified the sovereignty of the Nation. Indian Army remains committed to enhancing its efforts to serve those who have served the country with valour and dedication.
