ADDC unfurls National Flag; highlights developmental tempo, religious harmony by way of smooth conduct of SANJY-2025, Urs of Syed Qamar Sahib
GANDERBAL, JANUARY 24: A full dress rehearsal for the forthcoming 77th Republic Day was held today at Qamaria Stadium, Ganderbal, presenting the glimpses of the grand spectacle to unfold on Republic Day function.
Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, unfurled the National Flag, took salute at the March Past and inspected Parade & Band contingents.
The impressive march-past was presented by contingents of CRPF-118/115, 49 BN, SSB 4&63 BN, DPL Ganderbal, JKAP 14BN, DPL Ganderbal (Women), PTS Manigam, SPO Ganderbal, Forest Protection Force Ganderbal, Home Guard and Police Band besides Band I/C J&K Police.
Among schools, Boys contingents participated from JK Sainik School Manasbal, BHSS Ganderbal, BHSS Manigam and BHSS Kurhama, while Girls contingents comprised GHSS Ganderbal, BHS Shallabugh, Sadat Valley and GHS Shallabugh.
The event also featured a vibrant cultural programme, wherein schoolchildren enthralled the audience by presenting performance on ‘Vande Mataram’ celebrating 150 years of the National Song. Besides, they also performed on a series of patriotic songs and traditional folk dances. Their spirited performances reflected a deep sense of national pride and cultural richness, adding colour and enthusiasm to the occasion while highlighting the role of youth in preserving the nation’s heritage and values.
Reviewing the year 2025, ADDC said Ganderbal district demonstrated strong administrative capability by successfully hosting major events, including the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Kheer Bhawani Mela, Urs of Syed Qamar-u-Din Bukhari, and other religious gatherings. He stated that the administration ensured seamless facilities, effective security arrangements, and a welcoming environment for millions of pilgrims, reflecting the district’s tradition of religious harmony and efficient governance.
Highlighting development initiatives, ADDC said emphasis was laid on improving rural connectivity, upgrading infrastructure, strengthening water and power supply, expanding digital education, and enhancing healthcare services.
He added that eco-friendly and sustainable tourism is being promoted while preserving the district’s natural and cultural heritage.
Speaking on youth empowerment, he said that under Mission YUVA, young entrepreneurs are being supported through skill development, financial assistance, and digital platforms to encourage self-reliance.
Emphasizing the vital role of women in the district’s progress, ADDC stated that women are being empowered through self-help groups, skill-based training programmes, and entrepreneurial opportunities, enabling them to achieve financial independence and play a greater role in social and economic development.
Concluding his address, ADDC expressed heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders, and lauded the dedication of district officers, security forces, volunteers, and the general public for their collective efforts in maintaining peace, fostering communal harmony, and driving Ganderbal’s continued progress.
The event was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Fahim Bihaqi; Additional Superintendent of Police; Assistant Commissioner Revenue; and other senior officers from civil and police administration.
