RAMBAN, JANUARY 30: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan today distributed laptops, sewing machines, bicycles, school bags and other material among meritorious girl students and women beneficiaries under Mission Shakti and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP).
]The programme was organized by the Department of Social Welfare to promote education, women empowerment and social welfare in the district.
The event was attended by ACD, Sheraz Ahmed, District Social Welfare Officer, Sahil Bhagotra, Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Ramban, Nighat Ara and other concerned officers.
The Department gave away six laptops to meritorious students belonging to the SC and ST categories in recognition of their academic excellence. As part of livelihood support and economic empowerment, twelve sewing machines were distributed among widows and Antyodaya ration card holders.
Additionally, six bicycles were provided to school-going girls to facilitate access to education. School bags were also distributed among girl students to encourage continued schooling.
Later, a plantation drive was conducted as part of the programme, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable development.
