CS Ashish Kundra chairs the introductory meeting of the sub-committees constituted for organising the exposition
Leh, April 03, 2026: The Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Shri Ashish Kundra, chaired an introductory briefing meeting with members of the UT-level Coordination Committee and the seven Sub-Committees constituted for organising the Holy Exposition of the Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha in Ladakh, scheduled to be held from May 1 to May 15, 2026.
During the meeting, Shri Jigmet Takpa, Nodal Officer for the Holy Exposition, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the significance, scope, and timeline of the event. He provided an overview of the exposition and highlighted key aspects of its organisation.
The agenda included discussions on the structure, roles, and responsibilities of each committee and sub-committee; the inter-committee coordination framework and reporting mechanisms.
Deliberations were also held on the preliminary action plan, immediate responsibilities, and the designation of venue in-charges. The potential impact of the exposition on tourism and its role in promoting Ladakh as a major cultural and spiritual destination were also discussed.
Highlighting the importance of the event, Shri Takpa described it as a major cultural milestone for Ladakh. He informed that a large-scale Buddhist chanting ceremony, involving a significant number of monks, is planned to seek inclusion in the Guinness World Records.
The Chief Secretary directed all committee and sub-committee members to ensure effective coordination for the smooth conduct of the event. Informing about the dedicated website on the Holy Relics Exposition, he urged everyone to refer to the updated programme schedule given on the website to ensure the dissemination of accurate, relevant, and timely information to the public. He further instructed strict adherence to timelines and efficient execution of assigned responsibilities.
Underscoring the sanctity of the sacred relics, Shri Kundra urged venue in-charges to maintain close coordination with the respective sub-committees for seamless execution of programmes at all venues. He also stressed the timely finalisation of seminar topics and issuance of invitations to resource persons.
Additionally, he emphasised the importance of robust security arrangements, cleanliness drives, proper sanitation and waste management, adequate public amenities, and regular maintenance and accessibility of venues.
The meeting concluded with directions to all sub-committees to carry out their assigned duties diligently and submit action taken reports promptly. Members expressed their collective commitment to ensuring the successful and smooth conduct of this historic exposition in Ladakh.
The meeting was attended by members of the UT level coordination committee and the seven Sub-Committees, including Administrative Secretaries, heads of organisations, senior government and police officers, and representatives of various monasteries and institutions.
