78 vehicles Challaned for Traffic Rule Violations

BARAMULLA, APRIL 06: In a significant move to strengthen road safety enforcement, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Baramulla conducted a massive enforcement drive across the district under the directions of the Transport Commissioner J&K.

The drive was carried out at multiple locations including Sopore, Rafiabad, Ladora, and Baramulla, with a focus on curbing traffic violations and ensuring compliance with road safety norms.

During the operation, the MVD team led by ARTO Baramulla, Mudasir Ahmad Wani, inspected over 350 vehicles. Out of these, 78 vehicles were found violating provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and were e-challaned, with a total fine of ₹2,09,400 imposed.

The enforcement drive targeted key offences such as riding without helmets, non-use of seat belts, tampering with High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP), and other safety violations.

In addition, authorities recommended the suspension of 45 driving licences, blacklisted 10 vehicles, and seized 8 vehicles. Notably, four two-wheelers were seized for being driven without valid driving licences.

ARTO Baramulla urged the general public to strictly adhere to traffic rules, emphasizing that compliance is essential to ensure road safety and prevent accidents
