Time management is key to successful women: Kusum Tikku

Kusum Tikku is a versatile actor, director, theatre artist and anchor of Jammu and Kashmir and prominent face in the cultural arena in Union Territory. Having vast experience in the TV and regional film industry for over two decades Tikku’s journey is an inspiring one for the budding artists.

While talking to Young Bites, Kusum Tikko talked about her journey and the need for women to balance between professional life and family life. “Women are working in every field and are achieving success. We have women enthroned in various fields, we have bureaucrats, politicians, lawyers, doctors, actresses, educationists, authors, artists and plethora of talent among the women around us.”

Tikku said that for a female no field is very smooth but only those who succeed who manage their time. “Women have to work harder than men and face restrictions at every level. They face restrictions from the home, then from society and at times criticized for choosing a particular field, but that challenge needs to be accepted”, she said. “Women should not consider criticism or opposition as hindrance, but an opportunity to achieve her goals.

Regarding the talk about women empowerment, Kusum said that women are already empowered. “Males have to accept that females can succeed in any field. If your family is behind you and supports you whatever you are doing , it is real empowerment. Women are working in every field. Our competition is with ourselves”, she said.

She said that a professional female needs to maintain balance between the family responsibilities and professional commitments. “To run home is to run the whole world. One needs to manage time, time management is very important to succeed in life”.
