Zojila:- A sudden snowfall at the Zojila Pass on the Srinagar-Leh Highway on Saturday has left approximately 100 tourist vehicles and several private cars stranded on Saturday evening.
Officials said that the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has swiftly mobilized snow-clearing equipment and deployed its 122 RCC/32BRTF BCN team to initiate a rescue operation.
They said the dedicated team is working tirelessly to clear the snow-covered road and ensure the safety of all stranded commuters. Close coordination with the traffic police and civil administration is underway to facilitate a smooth and efficient rescue operation.
Officials said the sudden snowfall, particularly in Zojila area, has made conditions difficult. However, the prompt response from BRO and supporting agencies has helped mitigate potential risks. Snow-clearing machines and personnel are working diligently to restore connectivity and rescue operation.
As the weather conditions remain challenging, authorities are urging travelers to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary journeys on the affected route.
