Police arrests 06 gamblers in Khrew Pampore, stake money 40250 seized

PAMPORE, February 23: February 23: Acting tough against social crimes, Police in Awantipora have arrested 06 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.

Acting on specific information about gambling activities in Khrew, a police party of Police Station Khrew headed by SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS raided the specific site and arrested 06 gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Mohd Muneeb Peer son of Nizam-ud-din Peer resident of Nambal Pampore, Raj Mohd Bhat @Raj Brandy son of Mohd sultan Bhat resident of Nambalbal Pampore, Fayaz Ahmad Hajam son of Gh Mohd Hajam resident of Kadalbal Pampore, Ajaz Tariq Malik son of Tariq Ahmad Malik resident of Malikpora Pulwama, Javid Ahmad Hurrah son of Ali Mohd Hurrah resident of Sakadafar Eid Gah Srinagar and Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Habibullah Mir resident of Kadalbal Pampore.

Police have seized stake money of ₹40,250/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 11/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khrew and investigation has been taken up.

People found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
