Kupwara, 26 March : The Indian Army, under the aegis of the Shakti Vijay Brigade, organized a Mega Plantation Drive at Army Goodwill School (AGS) Hajinar Karnah. The initiative, conducted under the inspiring motto “Adopt a Tree,” witnessed enthusiastic participation from 600 students, who not only planted trees but also pledged to nurture them.
The event commenced with an inaugural address by the Sarpanch, followed by a pledge ceremony reinforcing the commitment to environmental conservation. A special lecture on the importance of afforestation was delivered to educate participants about ecological balance and sustainability.
The drive featured mass tree planting, where students actively engaged in tagging their adopted trees to ensure long-term care and responsibility. Adding to the awareness campaign, a creative eco-skit was performed, highlighting the critical role of trees in combating climate change and preserving biodiversity.
This initiative underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to fostering environmental consciousness and community engagement in the region. By encouraging young minds to take ownership of their environment, the event aims to create a lasting impact on ecological preservation and sustainable living.
