Srinagar, May 6, KNT: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, currently on a visit to Srinagar, strongly condemned the recent attack in Pahalgam, stating that such incidents deal a severe blow to Kashmir’s vital tourism sector.
Speaking to reporters, Owaisi emphasized the economic repercussions of the attack, particularly on the livelihoods of those dependent on tourism. “The Pahalgam attack has deeply hurt the tourism industry in Kashmir. It is not just a security issue but also an economic one,” he said.
Owaisi also raised concerns about the recent death of a youth from Kulgam, calling for a transparent and time-bound investigation. “There must be a thorough inquiry into the death of the Kulgam youth to ensure accountability,” he urged.
Responding to a question about the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), the Hyderabad MP remarked that the Government of India has put the agreement in abeyance. He did not elaborate further but hinted at the broader geopolitical and environmental implications of such a move. [KNT]
