Kupwara : The Indian Army inaugurated the biggest cricket tournament to have ever been organised in Lolab Valley. Spread across four venues of the beautiful vale, the competition will see 64 homegrown teams compete against each other for the ultimate prize, a place in the North Kashmir Premier League.

The tournament will witness 63 knockout matches to decide the best two teams who will claim the ultimate prize of being, *Champions of Lolab*.

Matches are being held concurrently at four different venues; Chandigam, Tekipora, Cheepora and Tarich – with locals gathering in large numbers to support their teams.

The ball was set rolling today at Chandigam Sports Ground as Sogam Club took on the Forest Department Team. The event included unveiling of the trophy and interaction with teams followed by high-octane, edge of the seat action at all venues: United Club Walkul took on Jolly Cricket Club at Tekipora; Aafan Royals were pitched against Pathan Panthers at Cheepora and Nutnussa Reds faced Friends Club Keegam at Tarich.

This competition will go a long way in providing a platform for the youth of our Valley to showcase their immense talents and nurture the spirit of sportsmanship as well as foster a greater belonging towards the teams amongst the locals.
