“GPA reaffirms commitment to ethical journalism and responsible reporting”
Ganderbal:
The Ganderbal Press Association (GPA) has commended the Ganderbal Police, led by SSP Khalil Poswal, for swiftly solving the mysterious murder case within just 36 hours.
President of GPA, Ayaz Sofi, along with all members, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident but lauded the police team for their professionalism and tireless efforts in bringing clarity and justice in such a short span of time.
Highlighting the responsible role of the media, Sofi noted that during the initial days of uncertainty, while several social media platforms were rife with misinformation and speculation, the GPA collectively decided to strictly follow only the official police version.
He emphasized that clear instructions were issued to all association members not to share any unverified content, ensuring that the credibility of journalism in Ganderbal remained intact.
“The association stood united in curbing misinformation, and we are proud that none of our members contributed to the rumors. Instead, we worked in coordination with the police to ensure facts were reported responsibly,” Sofi stated.
The GPA further appreciated the cooperation and patience shown by the people of Ganderbal during the tense days, who supported the police in maintaining peace and calm across the district.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to ethical journalism and stressed that peace, law, and order must always be prioritized in the public interest.
