Ganderbal: 28th August 2025: The youth of Nawabbagh, Ganderbal, in collaboration with DO Shadipora, under the dynamic leadership of SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Poswal (JKPS), voluntarily carried out a drive to eradicate cannabis (Bhang) cultivation in the area.
With great enthusiasm, groups of local youth brought cutters from their homes, arranged fuel from their own resources, and cut down the cannabis plants growing in and around Nawabbagh. Special attention was given to protect apple orchards, ensuring they remained free from this menace, which had become a safe haven for drug peddlers.
The initiative received wide appreciation from the general public of Nawabbagh and adjoining villages, who hailed the youth for their voluntary contribution towards a drug-free society.
Speaking on the occasion, DO Shadipora praised the efforts of the young volunteers and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to safeguard the interests of the people. He further appealed to residents of other villages to come forward and keep a vigilant eye on anti-social and drug-related activities within their areas of jurisdiction.
